Moby: Destroyed Moby: Destroyed: Photographs Location: Montserrat House, 2016 9th St. @ U St., Washington, DC Preview Reception (RSVP), Thursday, October 27, 2PM Irvine Contemporary is pleased to present an exhibition of photographs by Moby from his recent series, Destroyed. The photographs were all taken on tour and represent a companion project to his recent album of the same title, which features music compositions created while the musician was on tour. The exhibition will open with an RSVP reception on Thursday, October 27 at 2PM, and will close with a party on November 5. This exhibition will present a selection of signed and numbered editioned prints from the full series of photographs also documented in Moby's book of photographs for Destroyed. The opening reception will include a book signing with Moby. Moby began learning photography when he was 9, and continued shooting and developing his own photographs through his college years, when he was was working with both photography and music. His photographs in his Destroyed series are a personal portfolio of images taken while touring and while composing the music that became the Destroyed album. His images capture surprising epiphanies in everyday moments while carrying on the rituals of touring to performance venues. The photographs reveal both the sublime and mundane moments of touring, from the stark non-spaces of transit in airports and highways to the fleeting glimpses of the urban sublime in major cities around the world.
